ASL Based Dog Training
As a Certified Canine Behavior Specialist who is currently enrolled in ASL classes and is passionate about accessibility for the Deaf community I am committed to creating a safe space for both Deaf people and Deaf dogs. Sign can be a wonderful support for people who are deaf and looking for help with dog training. Communication is key when it comes to working with both dogs and their people, and having a Certified Behavior Specialist who understands both SEE and ASL makes the process easier, clearer, and more comfortable. It allows for open, direct conversations about your goals, your dog’s needs, and any concerns you may have—without the need for an interpreter. This creates a stronger connection between you and the trainer, and helps build trust and understanding every step of the way.
Say hello to our ASL Training Program Coordinator
Hello, and welcome. My name is Andrea, but I go by Draya. I’m a Certified Canine Behavior Specialist with a passion for helping people and their dogs build strong, trusting relationships. What makes my work especially meaningful is that I teach dog training classes designed specifically for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals and/or Deaf dogs. As someone who is currently learning American Sign Language (ASL), I’m proud to offer a space where communication is clear, respectful, and fully accessible.
In my classes, I focus on using visual cues, body language, and hands-on guidance to help you and your dog learn together. I understand that every person and every dog learns differently, and I’m here to support both of you with patience and kindness. Whether you're working on basic obedience, behavior challenges, or just want to build a closer bond with your dog, I’ll help you find the tools and techniques that fit your needs.
Training your dog should be a positive and empowering experience. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where you feel seen, understood, and supported. Together, we’ll help your dog become a calm, confident companion—and help you feel confident too. I’m honored to be part of your journey and look forward to meeting you and your dog.
